Prof. M.P. Balakrishna Menon Memorial Award

Sponsored by

Nandini & Sunil Kumar, Abu Dhabi

Throughout my life I worked for the students so even after my death let them have use for my body. This was the last wish of the retired college principal M.P. Balakrishna Menon. He donated his eyes and gave his body to the medical college.

Balakrishna Menon started his teaching career in Guruvurappan college in Calicut and later in Sri Krishna college n Guruvayur. He was a master in his profession of teaching with an excellent control with the language. He was always helpful for the student who approached with help even long after his retirement, He was always loved and respected by his students and the former students ways looked forward to meet him in the alumni association meetings of the college. It is this love he reciprocated to his students by expressing his desire to donate his body for the medical college.

He was a great resource of knowledge in the English literature and had uncanny ability to teach the difficult area in a simple and lucid manner. It is said that students used to love to attend his lecture and created and love for the subjects he taught.

Although he was diagnosed with cancer he faced the terminal disease with great courage, He was an authority in the English language and literature and there were very few in the university during his time to match his knowledge. In his dressing, in his deeds as well as in his dialogue he was a great model to follow.
