Thomas Isaac Memorial Award

Sponsored by

Molly & Isaac Thomas, Kochi

Thomas Isaac Memorial Award was instituted by Molly & Isaac Thomas, Kochi, in memory of their only child, Thomas Isaac ( Anup ). Anup passed away in 1988 at the age of 14 due to a suspected brain aneurysm. He was a brilliant child, a government merit scholarship holder, and an athletic all-rounder.

Even though Anup's sudden passing away was a big shock to the parents, they recovered from their loss by involving with the work of Yacharam Balagram from 1988 onward. Very Rev. K. I. Philip Ramban played a great role in their becoming involved with Balagram. As both are trained engineers, they put use of their technical and business skills to benefit Balagram. Molly got involved with implementing the computerization of Balagram and still continues to help them with annual reports. Isaac meanwhile got involved in 2001 in the establishment and advising the running of the eye hospital in Yacharam in addition to helping Balagram in its activities. Both of them do not hold any official positions in Balagram and work purely as volunteers.

By their support for ICON Awards they hope more children would reach positions which Anup would have reached.

By the grace of God through their work for the children they have overcome the loss they suffered and have several children who look to them for their advice and support.

They hope that their example will act as a motivator for people who have suffered such losses of their loved ones.
